2021-10-21 1979 Kz1300 Front Tire and Fuel Delivery Test
New Dunlop D404 front tire 110-90-18
Front tire is EZ tire.. Rear tire has exhaust covering axle soooo, remove shocks, let swing arm hang
down, pull axle? Not sure yet.
FUEL DELIVERY TEST
- Filled tank to top
- Placed catch container and tube at same height as carb inlet
- Turned Pingle petcock to ON position, timed how long each gallon took
- 'Calibrated' fuel gauge using painters tape so I know how many gallons are left at various needle indications
First gallon took 3:44 to fill
Gallon #1
Gallon 2
Took 4:23
Gallon 3
Took 4:09
Almost 4 gallons before Reserve is reached. I got a wee bit more after this pic was taken.
Just shy of 1 gallon in Reserve... or about 33 miles.
I still haven't carried extra fuel, then ran main tank down to see if all of Reserve will flow into carbs. As you can see from pic, the fuel line is routed short and straight as
possible to carb inlet. No fuel filter either.
Speaking of fuel filter, the tank drained 5 gallons of good clean fuel, no contaminants (rust or debri), a good sign!
Too bad I didn't capture time required to flow Reserve fuel. Oh well. From gallon 1 to gallon 4, gallon 4 took 25 seconds longer, not too bad.
It would be interesting to know KZ1300 fuel burn rate in GPM...
More to come later.
