No big deal, right? Just flush brake fluid with new.
Front, no big deal.
Rear fluid looked really dark, as if it had been overheated or something.
Rear, well, I screwed up. Removed the cap, and a plastic circular piece remained behind. Removed.
Connect hose and catch tank to slave cylinder then pump and bleed baby.
Hmm, better add a little fluid to reservoir.
So I did.
Then bled but whaaaaat? Brake pedal no longer firm, total sponge. ACK!
Look at reservoir, and DUH, a black rubber space still installed, and expanded out like a cone. Remove it, and of course, the fluid is non-existent. I had filled the 'cone' and not the 'tank' of the reservoir.
Long of short, It took forever to get the system bled.
- Tried using MightyVac - no luck
- Tried to remove slave cylinder to raise it up for air bubbles to float but it won't remove from swing arm.. it's captive
- Bled the MC by breaking the fitting and bleeding e.g. pedal down, open banjo, close banjo, pedal up
- Did same thing to rear brake hose at slave cylinder. Raised hose up and bled unil no more bubbles
- Backfilled slave cylinder
- Reconnect everything and after 5 or so minute FINALLY bubbles come up the bleed hose.
Live and Learn I guess. 10 minute job = 3 hours.
