You start on a journey to restore a motobike you had in your youth.
Then realities come in..
But, today, for me, it's all been worth it.
Finally, I feel I can ride this 1979 KZ1300 A1 and not feel 'weak'.
The Bitch can RUN!.
Of course, more work to be done.
But, for today, easy starting, clean and hard pull to redline.
No fear of pulling out for a pass...
And the exhaust sounds like you just passed Tom 'slow ass' Cruise off the carrier deck!
Today was a good day.
Took a loan from bank to buy this bike. Last loan ever!
Location - hiway 1 just north of San Simeon.

The windscreen sucks. Flat, and my eyeballs rattle at speed.
Starts easy, pulls HARD to redline, but burns a little oil.. sigh.
I have an 'appointment' for full engine rebuild in approx Dec..
Randy's Cycle.
Originally, had Krause Star saddlebags. Still have them, but need to find 'plastic' welder to repair mounting tabs.
Sometimes, pics don't tell the whole story. Cold, Windy. But my KZ runs hot, in these conditions, coolant temp ran at 190F.
Later, off the coast,in 94F, max temp was 212F.. I will call this good!
Meantime, on the coolio coast..
I have a 1981 Honda CBX which is painfully stock. I have to be sooo careful not to scratch or damage any surface.
This bitch?
Rock N' Roll BABY!
At the beach, San Simeon before Morro Bay.

It appears my fix of the oil passage leak worked... No more oil puddles under the engine.
My road map for temp and GPG.
Very happy to say that even in 93F, and slow slogging, she never got over between 'Fans' and '220'.
I no longer fear to ride this KZ like a 'real' bike.
