What's behind this cover? Anything going to spring out? 
Partzilla doesn't show a gasket for it...
edit. Yes it does, under tab 'Engine Covers'.

Can these tensioners be removed for new gasket or is there danger of slipping a tooth?

Hopefully not a base gasket leak.

Brand new end cap, NFG. Slight leak. Sigh. Off come the lower coils and valve cover again.

Notes:

  1. Must remove both lower coils to remove valve cover
  2. It comes out RHS, keeping cover as far forward as possible
  3. Check cover end caps for brittleness I had OEM caps. The leaky one is rock hard, had no 'compression' left in it e.g. for the cover to squish the cap into the half-moon.

Installed 45 mm O-Ring on timing gear cover. The old one came out 'flat' on sealing surface not round.
