Pops needed me to check out some real estate for him and offered to pay gas money. Hey, it's a good gig if you get it!
Took off down the coast cause it's lots warmer than inland these days. That plus my heated gear didn't arrive in time - so screw it I'm going anyway.
This is the dirt road going to the first property in Joshua Tree. Holy crikees, why did I not install a fresh set of TKC80 knobbies? I just installed Anakee's and wondered how well they would do.
Apparently, not so good. My right leg was trapped under the saddlebag, took some maneuvering to escape it.
Close by, found this cool art collection.
Wanna fly this one?
Made it to GunMD's abode. He had beer. Steak. Potatoes. Salad. Me likes all these things!
And a bonfire too!
Alas, though, it appears married life has softened ol Gun.... He now owns a cage... <sigh>
At least he doesn't wash his bike.
Brownie points if anyone can identify what outstanding FjrForum.com member used to own this bike!
Giving the TWN salute. Well done Mr. and Mrs. Gunny!
Joshua Tree national park. Gunny leads the way.
Rocks. Lots of rocks.
Camera crew on mountain top. Just around the corner was the most bored looking CHP officer ever.
A plethora of whatever they are..
Box Canyon, outside of the park, south side. I enjoyed the canyon more than the 'park'.
Wow man, surreal.
The Salton sea. It's salty I'm told.
But the area has water, stolen from the Colorado.
Soon enough, time to say goodbye. Thanks for the good times, and come on out to the Hondarosa! We would split up a bit later.
Windmills.
Spent the night in Hesperia, next AM chilly, off to Randsburg then California City.
Randsburg - an old mining town.
Billy Holcomb chapter!
If you are ever the thriving megatrapolis known as Ca City, this is the place for food. Trust me. Excellent stuff!
...and here is the place that got me so damn sick on a DV run with ToeCutter, last year or the year before? I actually started feeling weasy just looking at the joint.
Final stretch home, CA 58 Westbound.
Good twisty road.
New solar power farms, two of them, under construction in California Valley. When challenged by the guard, I told him I was on a mission for the 'Stranded Kangaroo Rat Society'. The look on his face was priceless.
I don't think this old building will be around much longer..
The apparatus on left is a truck wash station - to prevent non-native seeds from growing.
This is a huge project, 3rd largest in the world. Warren Buffet just bought the NRG plant.
Just beating the storm clouds home.
Dang, this is just 5 miles from la casa. The white pickup up truck is covering up a silver car that was under it and in the ditch. WTFO?
That's it - had a great time with Mr. and Mrs. Gun (she owes me a video ya'll want to see, trust me!) Wabs ran great, mission accomplished!
