2013-03-29 Central Kali Lake Run

I'd been working way too many hours at the local nookie plant trying to make some $$ to retire on. Being away from home, a feller has to make friends with who ever and what ever is around, including Mr. Lizard. It's a lizard kind of ride report...

Evidently, a lot can happen in 50 some odd days.. Like one of my favorite places for a breakfast salad has closed down. Wilson's restaurant in Paso Robles has been open for many years - and I'm going to miss my 'gurls' who always took good care of me.

Not open daily anymore..

Went to a Touch of Paso instead then headed to the hills looking for some green and possibly some wildflowers.
This is the road going  to Pleyto cemetery, lake San Antonio is nestled in behind, trust me.

A barn pix for my bud Andrew, RIP.

Looking  south from Lockwood, CA.

The mission is just up the road, upper right on this map, Naciamento Ferguson road snakes its way over the  mountain top, and a road I've not ridden, dirt, from San Ardo to Lockwood is by the red arrow. I have to ride that one day. Maybe on the ATK?

The diner is now open, just FYI.

Listening to Sirius XM radio, the song is 'The Road Goes on Forever, and the Party Never Ends'.. Perfect!

Highway 101 is out there, but not for me today. I'm exploring and living the moment.

Water from the lake is released for use by Monterey County. Interestingly enough, the lake is physically in San Luis Obispo County.

In San Lucas, just east of 101, on a new road, Cattleman, I found the San Lucas cemetery.

Call me sick or whatnot, but I like old cemeteries. The stories untold, of lives lived in different eras all brings the life continuum into focus for me.ot

Some graves are more recent.

Must have loved bears and the San Francisco 49'ers?

People sure do spend lots of money to mark death spots. I wonder if it's wiser to spend the money on living?

Small things tend to catch my eyes.. For example, look at the craftsmanship of this.x

Mr. Lizrad agrees with me. BTW, this feller is the 4th cousin of the 5th descendant of the feller in pix on of this thread!

I couldn't leave just yet.. A couple of graves were speaking..Like this child. I wonder what happened?

RIP Little Leverett.

Remind me to not use this kind of stone..

Check this one out. They had plumbed water in from the tank on the hill, planted flowers and even had lit candles. Look carefully and you'll see the candle.

KrZy8 patiently awaits.. Come on dCarver, let's blow this place and Ride!

San Lucas post office - pix for my bud RenoJohn..

Central Kali is a land of contrasts - dry farming, grapes, pasture lands. It all takes water - unfortunately, the underground water supply is depleting rapidly.

Grapes on side.

Alfalfa on the other.

The last stop - the local airplane museum, Estrella Warbirds.

Running short on daylight and time, I head back to the Hondarosa, satisfied, content, happy.
Candy Butt Association rides are the BEST!
