2009-03-22 Riding with RenoJohn's Amigo

LongLeggedGalut

Last spring RenoJohn rode from Reno to hang out with Tim and me at the Hondarosa. While here, he introduced me to a local rider, Wayne, aka LongLeggedGalut, who lives about 15 miles away. Leave it to a Nevada hick to introduce two local riders…

As it turns out, LongLeggedGalut is nearly as moto sick as RenoJ, has several motorbikes in the garage, and one in the shed. The shed bike is a BMW something or another, LongLeggedGalut claims the rear end is solid on the older Beemers, so I think we might be ok for this day ride. Hate to tow a Beemer with cRzy8.

Here’s LongLeggedGalut at the meet up point.

We decided to visit my old alma mater.. This used to be a ‘boys school’ aka kid prison, but now the state wants to use it as a more serious facility for criminal rehab, and the locals are somewhat pissed off. I say WTFO, bring ol’ Bernie in and let the inmates show some true love…

The route was Paso Robles, CA to Indian Valley Rd, to Peachy Canyon, then just wing it from there.

The road goes on forever, and the party never ends… that’s a lyric – any clue who?

The roads local really suck here. Traffic, straight, stoplights, leo enforcement. It really sucks here.

Here’s old LongLeggedGalut in action.

He has an unusual helmet holder..

LongLeggedGalut didn’t like my comment about Beemers having weak rear ends and took a swing at me!

At the junction of Peachy Canyon Road and River Road.

Time for pix, too many words..

BORING

LongLeggedGalut, having taken Beemer rear end abuse all day long decides to take revenge by challenging me n cRzy8 to a dirt road to nowhere… WTFO? But sure, I’m game, not like cRzy8 ain’t a durty gurl, if you get my drift..

In case you ever want to run this road.

LONGLEGGEDGALUT ready to lite the afterburners.

See what I mean about LongLeggedGalue?

Overlooking the valley.

Waxing philosophical.

Looking west.

I challenged LONGLEGGEDGALUT to ride up this road.. He didn’t and neither did I. It was steeper than it looks in this pix.

The dirt road finally ends, and once again I have a clue where I am. I felt lucky to have survived the LONGLEGGEDGALUT’s attempt to end my life on the top o’ desolate mountain...

Of course, the day ended with the Beemer broken down….

Yep, the first time I met LONGLEGGEDGALUT, he got a flat tire. The second time we ride, guess what? I’m just happy he’s the nail magnet and not me…

A wonderful day riding with a great guy on a beautiful day. Pretty damn nice, Thanks RenoJohn!
