Pairing Garmin 590 to Sena 20S

Hi Ray I hope the issue is resolved. I have a 590 and an S20. I had to dig deep to find this information. With this info you have all the possible pairing configurations.

 

Mobile Phone and GPS Pairing Configuration #1

 

This configuration allows you to use make phone calls, answer phone calls, and listen to stereo audio, such as music, through your mobile phone. The GPS is only used for listening to GPS directions.

 

Here are the steps for Configuration #1:

 

1. Pair your mobile phone to the 20S using the Mobile Phone Pairing method. On the 20S, hold down the phone button for 5 seconds until you hear the voice prompt say “phone pairing” and you see the LED flash red and blue rapidly.

2. While the 20S is in Phone Pairing mode, scan for the Sena 20S in the list of Bluetooth devices on your mobile phone and when it appears select it to pair the two devices together.

3. Wait for the devices to pair together.

4. Pair your GPS to the 20S using the Second Mobile Phone Pairing method. On the 20S, hold down the Jog Dial for 6 seconds until you hear the voice prompt say “intercom pairing” and you see the LED flash red rapidly then within 2 seconds press the phone button to hear the voice prompt say “second mobile phone pairing” and you see the LED flash blue rapidly.

5. While the 20S is in Second Mobile Phone Pairing mode, scan for the Sena 20S in the list of Bluetooth devices on your GPS and when it appears select it to pair the two devices together.

 

Mobile Phone and GPS Pairing Configuration #2

This configuration allows you to listen to GPS directions and listen to stereo audio, such as music, through your GPS. The mobile phone is only used to make and answer phone calls.

 

Here are the steps for Configuration #2:

 

1. Pair your GPS to the 20S using the Mobile Phone Pairing method. On the 20S, hold down the phone button for 5 seconds until you hear the voice prompt say “phone pairing” and you see the LED flash red and blue rapidly.

2. While the 20S is in Mobile Phone Pairing mode, scan for the Sena 20S in the list of Bluetooth devices on your GPS and when it appears select it to pair the two devices together.

3. Wait for the devices to pair together.

4. Pair your mobile phone to the 20S using the Second Mobile Phone Pairing method. On the 20S, hold down the Jog Dial for 6 seconds until you hear the voice prompt say “intercom pairing” and you see the LED flash red rapidly then within 2 seconds press the phone button to hear the voice prompt say “second mobile phone pairing” and you see the LED flash blue rapidly.

5. While the 20S is in Second Mobile Phone Pairing mode, scan for the Sena 20S in the list of Bluetooth devices on your mobile phone and when it appears select it to pair the two devices together.

 

Mobile Phone and GPS Pairing Configuration #3

This configuration allows you to make phone calls, answer phone calls, have a Caller ID function, listen to GPS directions, and listen to stereo audio, such as music, through your GPS.

 

Here are the steps for Configuration #3:

 

1. Pair your mobile phone directly to the GPS.

2. Pair your GPS to the 20S using the Mobile Phone Pairing method. On the 20S, hold down the phone button for 5 seconds until you hear the voice prompt say “phone pairing” and you see the LED flash red and blue rapidly.

3. While the 20S is in Mobile Phone Pairing mode, scan for the Sena 20S in the list of Bluetooth devices on your GPS and when it appears select it to pair the two devices together.

 

Mobile Phone and GPS Pairing Configuration #4

This is the pairing I am using.

This configuration allows you to make phone calls, answer phone calls, and listen to GPS directions. Furthermore, GPS pairing will allow you have an intercom conversation while being able to hear the GPS directions without being interrupted by the audio from the GPS.

*Note: The audio that is not GPS related such as music will be in mono and not stereo.

 

Here are the steps for Configuration #4:

 

1. Pair your mobile phone to the GPS directly.

2. Pair your GPS to the 20S using the GPS Pairing method. On the 20S, hold down the Jog Dial for 6 seconds until you hear the voice prompt say “intercom pairing” and you see the LED flash red rapidly then within two seconds press the phone button to hear the voice prompt say “second mobile phone pairing” and you see the LED flash blue rapidly then press the phone button once more within two seconds to hear the voice prompt say “GPS pairing” and you see the LED flash green rapidly.

3. While the 20S is in GPS Pairing mode, scan for the Sena 20S in the list of Bluetooth devices on your GPS and when it appears select it to pair the two devices together.

 

Mobile Phone and GPS Pairing Configuration #5

This configuration allows you to make phone calls, answer phone calls, listen to GPS directions from a smartphone app, and listen to stereo audio from your mobile phone. With the Navigation App Support setting enabled through the Configuration Menu, the audio from a GPS navigation app will not be reduced during an intercom conversation. Additionally, the music from your mobile phone will not be reduced either during an intercom conversation.

 

Here are the steps for Configuration #5:

 

1. Pair your mobile phone to the 20S using the Mobile Phone Pairing method. On the 20S, hold down the phone button for 5 seconds until you hear the voice prompt say “phone pairing” and you see the LED flash red and blue rapidly.

2. While the 20S is in Mobile Phone Pairing mode, scan for the Sena 20S in the list of Bluetooth devices on your mobile phone and when it appears select it to pair the two devices together.

3. Enter the Configuration Menu, by either holding down the Jog Dial for 12 seconds or using the “Configuration” voice command. Rotate the Jog Dial to cycle through the device settings until you hear the voice prompt say “Navigation App Support”.

4. Press the phone button to enable the “Navigation App Support” setting.

5. After enabling the Navigation App Support setting, rotate the Jog Dial till you hear the voice prompt say “Exit Configuration” then press the phone button to confirm.

 

Mobile Phone and GPS Pairing Configuration #6

 

This configuration allows you to use make phone calls, answer phone calls, and listen to stereo audio, such as music, through your mobile phone. The GPS is only used for listening to GPS directions. Additionally, the GPS directions will not interrupt intercom communications.

Here are the steps for this configuration:

 

1. Pair your mobile phone to the 20S using the Mobile Phone Pairing method. On the 20S, hold down the phone button for 5 seconds until you hear the voice prompt say “phone pairing” and you see the LED flash red and blue rapidly.

2. While the 20S is in Phone Pairing mode, scan for the Sena 20S in the list of Bluetooth devices on your mobile phone and when it appears select it to pair the two devices together.

3. Wait for the devices to pair together.

4. Pair your GPS to the 20S using the GPS Pairing method. On the 20S, hold down the Jog Dial for 6 seconds until you hear the voice prompt say “intercom pairing” and you see the LED flash red rapidly then within two seconds press the phone button to hear the voice prompt say “second mobile phone pairing” and you see the LED flash blue rapidly then press the phone button once more within two seconds to hear the voice prompt say “GPS pairing” and you see the LED flash green rapidly.

5. While the 20S is in GPS Pairing mode, scan for the Sena 20S in the list of Bluetooth devices on your GPS and when it appears select it to pair the two devices together.
