2010-11-23 The BustaNuts do San Diego

... A tale of debauchery

Posted 25 November 2010 - 11:00 AM

So old FustAbut, err, BustaNut, and lovely, sweet, kind, gentle Miz Bust were to be in San Diego for their son's Marine boot camp graduation ceremony. How could one possibly stay away? For that you'll have to ask the wimpy riders like SkooterG and Big-No-Show-Dolma! public/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif

Weather was a concern. I'm +350 away, temps expected to be below freezing, my heated gear is not, rain in the forecast too. And I'm the Candy Butt Association prezident and all, so I have to play by my own rules. But how could I not have chance to meet ol' sheep shearing-molesting FustAbutt?

Took ocean route southbound for warmer weather.
South Santa Barbara, IIRC.

Near Pendelton you'll routinely see military choppers flying about.

Creston doesn't look like this! My room was pretty cool, I had a full 360 degree panoramic view.
The city view.

The bay view.
3 Nimitz class carriers were in bay. The Ronald Reagan, the Vincent? and the ??
Oh, and of course India Star? was there too. I had just seen a Dirty Jobs episode with this ship so it was kinda cool.

The debauchery begins in bit. Stay tuned.

Can you believe this sweet, gentle, loving, and kind woman hooked up with Bust? Some thoughts are simply unfathomable!
Posted Image

Fairlaner, attempting to make a 'comeback' on J80's.
Posted Image

Bust, wondering if he'll ever get another shot again.
Posted Image

And then, for some reason, the boyz all decided to get on the ground hoping some sailor would saddle on up? I couldn't believe my eyes and was neither could the rest of the bar patrons.
Posted Image

Bust, in search of??
Posted Image

At this time, it got really kinky. Ain't no first class, 5 star hotel we can't degrade to base level!
Posted Image

See what I mean? You caption these following fotos'..
Posted Image

Somethings just ain't right. Jes' sayin'. Maybe it was the sailor town or something that tripped the trigger. Jeesh, kinda embarASSing!
Posted Image

Thankfully, after about 30 minutes, the boyz were done and things got 'normal' again.
Posted Image

By that I mean Bust decided that first J80's fleece vest (really, did you have bring a freaking fleece vest) was a good substitute for Dolly.Until of course, he found Fairlaner's jacket.. ummm, cotton!
Posted Image

The dart game was a bust. The auto-scorerer part wasn't, no one could read the instructions, and I lost 5 bucks worth of quarters to Fairlaner as he kept pouring the quarters in.
Posted Image

Mizz Bust getting the shots.
Posted Image

Bust, starting to fade out.. old dogs just can't keep up..
Posted Image

Fairlaner, just re-pointing the camera, after he took a, uhh, 'self-portrait' for future sailor use? LOL
Posted Image

I have no clue what Bust is about to do here..

Conclusion to follow.

Woke up early, I had an appointment with CyclePort to modify my gear. J80's met me there, looking all spry and shit - of course all he drank all night long was ginger ale.. :fuck:

J80's took me to a damn good bagel store for coffee and muffins and lots of El-Toro-Poo-Poo talk. He even bought! Thanks John!

At Noon:30 it was back on the road. I've never seen so much traffic in the So Cal area. I've never split so many miles of freeway at one stretch either.

Lane splitting is touted as being safer than repetitively starting and stopping due to the increased chance of being rear-ended by an inattentive driver. Well, I now believe it.

As I was 'sharing' the lane, the car not but 2 feet to my right wasn't paying attention and slammed into the bumper of the car I was just about to pass. The tires were squealing, the rear bumper was flying off and coming at me, and the hit car then rear-ended the car ahead of it. HOLY CRAP batman, I was so outta there. I can't imagine how much worse the traffic got after that one.

I lived in So Cal for 25+ years and have never seen traffic so bad. The I5, up the grapevine was bumper to bumper. I can now say I split the grapevine.

Past the grapevine, north on I5, the temp dropped to 28F and stayed there for over 2 hours. A young black man driving a tricked out Lexus was really speeding in and out of traffic, taking horrific chances. I let him be my rabbit - and followed in his wake. He did of course, get a performance reward when the cut past a CHP on the right into a slot that had less than 2 feet clearance at 75 mph front and rear. Gotta love stupid rabbits!

Crossing the Tremblor mountain range, 58W, was 25F. No heated gear, so stopped to stretch and warm up. It was also very dark.

Summary - way fun Hunter S. Thompson gonzo time San Dieeggo. Great to meet the Bust's and party with Richard again. Johnny80's is a fun person who loves to spin Richard up - and does so easily. Great fun!
