Several rain storms finally came to bless our dry farmers, for which I'm grateful. My neighbor dry farms and was close to losing the entire crop. For him, I am happy. For me, it's a mess of a dirt road to escape on when riding a slick tired, top heavy FJR.
Yeah, I know what you're thinking.. I'm a wimp, this road doesn't look *that* bad... You will have to trust me - or try it yourself. I went through in 1st gear, landing gear down, .5 mph and was still loose on front and rear. See the little stretch of 'dry' on the left? That's my path.
Just 40 miles or so away, the beautiful west coast, central Kali style.
That's rmcobb, Randy, ahead of me. Back in the early 80's, we worked at the same place. I was riding a 79 KZ1300 and Randy a really sweet FJR 1100. I so liked the Fjr I bought the 13 based soley on Randy's 1100, back in the day.
In one's own home town, one often does not visit, see, experience local attractions. I've not yet been to Hearst Castle or this park.
Valerie, MCML's most definitely better half (gurrly-friend).. She is a nice lady who fully doesn't understand Sir Richard!
Mr. RedTail, looking all studly before we found out that....
FjronaMission, Brian.
Where we was! BTW, very good food for almost reasonable prices. I had a rack of pork ribs for 19 bucks.. and have to say it was very delicious.
UhOh, RedTail about to lose his manhood. What's this? He *drove* the FJR up here in his *truck*?
It was cute, Mrs. RedTail was defending her man...
"It's my fault! He's doing this for me!"
Yeah, right!
Later, I learned that Mrs. Redtail is 'Her fathers daughter'.
Hmmm, I wondered, what the hell does that mean?
Turns out that her mom and pop eloped on an Indian!
After llearning that, I don't GAF what they use to have fun, they have an eternal pass!
When we learned RedTail was going to *load his bike into a truck* <gasp> we all had to, uhh, 'offer our help'!
Round one, didn't go to well. All RT did was spin out on the ramp. It was misting heavy, wet tire and ramp.
It was very good to see my old bud, JB, Hans here too. He brought his nephew, wish I spent more time with them two. Here, Hans is mightily struggling to fit two helmets into a topcase, aka 50 pounds o' shit into a 30 pound bag...
Hans and I are both employed by higher Ed. I appreciate this bumper sticker but then again like dropping bombs on those who would kill us. Wait, can I say that? Oh yeah, of course I can, this is MY site!
Sometimes, blurry pix are the best. Highlander meets Gringo?xxx for the first time. This is how the community grows. The initial offering of respect and freindship. On the other hand, if later you fuck up and ride like a dork, chances are.... you won't ride with Sir Highlander ever again. Or me, too. Hcyle, Mike, and Joseph, MCML, watch the fun.
Not the most complimentary pix of Joseph, but somehow, I like it. This man is a dear friend, and I can stand to see him when it's not the best. That's what friends do. Hugs n' Kisses Joseph! :fuck:
Mr. and Mrs. RedTail. I have to get their true names. I heard it, they told me, I have CRSS, or whatever that disease is that you can't... do what again?
Lunch is over, the gang moves back to their mechanical steeds. This is an interesting process full of who is going where, who do I match up with, speed, risk, and bladder size. Me? I waited until damn near everyone has left then ride solo. It's a blessing and a curse. More of a blessing, I think.
Fairlner, Richard, deciding if the HondaPotamus is too small..
"Maybe I need a Spyder?"
Sir R, you and me need to start exercising, loose some weight. Sorry to say, but it's true. Maybe a friendly wager to motivate is in order?
I had one pix of Sir Richard with his face, burined in shame, but the bastid wrestled the camera away from me, and deleted the pix!
Never trust a *Sir Richard* with your camera!
Johnny80's and I are looking at the divine Ms. Tylers ride, a Spyder..
Johnny sez, "Did you check out Tyler's ball sack?"
"What the fuck, doode, that human is ALL woman!" sez I.
"Nooo, look at her key" retorts a stricken Johnny80's...
...and then, the truth comes out.. I can't type it..
Can you figure it out, all by yourself?
God Bless my bud beemerdons. He is truly a great guy who loves life, has a full appreciation of what a new sunrise means, is not afraid to spend money on bikes and rides and events that he may or not have inventory for, because, like me, this guy knows just how fucking fragile life is, and wants to, and IS making each day count. He's also a great Dad to Seth, and if you don't know that chapter call me. I, for one, truly value this man as a person and role model.
Although he could do better at ATGATT...
Well, this RR is winding down. These peeps and me are the nearly the last ones in the lot. Everyone else has throttled out yet here we are.
Southbound.. Your Kali taxes at work..
Love the old retro look of the new bridge.
Why does my body hurt so much for just a street ride? At this point, I'm ready to stop, and it's not even been a CBA 150 ride. Such is life in a broken down body.
So, find the joy where you can, do what you can, appreciate what you can. Learn to expand what you 'can'. Off the soapbox now..
Santa Rosa old Creek Road..
Looking back to the west on Sant Rosa Old Creek Road.
Today, my last day of 'freedom' as I start 6 weeks of graveyard 6x12 at the nookie plant to pay bills. I miss most every spring to work the outages, for which I'm grateful, we need the money, but I do miss the best riding season almost every year.
KrZy8Eh lives! I am so happy with my decison to plant a new engine into the ol' gurl. She runs GREAT, and I want to reach that 1,000,000 mile mark on bikes *currently* owned.
For the record, that is Tim's, TwoWheelNut's, bag and back case on this bike. Sorry, tears. Fucking Tim, leaving us so soon. Do I remember, Yes, I do.
Found a pano feature on the new camera..
Love the Bates and CARP sticker on Tim's old top case...
The end.
A wonderful day meeting new peeps who are now potential freinds (sorry, have to prove yourself over time), and seeing old and loved freinds.
What a wonderful space is occupied by FJR peeps in the motobike universe!
Big Sur RR
Don,
Love the Panorama pics and a good eye! We stopped at the same spot for a few photos, breathtaking! Thanks for showing me that little slice of heaven last year? (kain't remember, suffering from CRSS too!)
<p>Brain dead for now, can't think of anything witty enough to grace this space.</p>
Jes happy to have a comment!
It's a bit of heaven here on the central Kali koast!
Here's a pix Joseph took of me that I like -
