Day 4 - Fortuna to Petaluma
Day 5 - Petaluma to Home
Relive - Entire Ride
After a toss and turn night, maybe one hour sleep, the morning dawns bright and cheery. Yawn.
Best Western was a 6 out of 10. No jacuzzi. Upstair door was semi-broken. The room was poorly lit.
Or maybe I was just cranky due to lack of sleep?
For some reason I had the theme song from 'Then came Bronson' running through my cranium scareabellium.
Beautiful El Dorado, CA. Sometimes, small towns equal LEO's writing tickets to source revenue.
This trip, we saw very few LEO's.
With July 4th around the corner, flags were flying.
Wanted to stop here. Check it out. Mom n Pop live upstairs, make lunch and dinner downstairs.
Check out the AC unit, 2nd floor.
We rode past this. Had I been solo, would have stopped. Advantages and disadvantages of riding in groups.
Happy the pic came through, and a GoFund me account has been established to repair the statue.
Gold country has history.
Our 'horses' didn't need shoeing, so we didn't stop.
How cool would it be to say I live in Cool, Kali?
CA 49 is one heck of a nice road. Temps were perfect too. Little traffic. Life is good.
Twisty roads result in equal wear across the tire?
A bridge over peaceful, not troubled waters.
My bud Greg had enough of us so left for Tahoe area, looking for a hot date.
Thanks for tagging along Greggie!
I pack too heavy, and it negatively influences the ride. Must learn to pack lighter.
11.2 gallons of fuel, 40-60 pounds of tools, tire fixing stuff, starter batteries.
Onward the intrepid riders ride. No fear. No guts. No glory. For we are Steve's Sissie Boyz!
Umm, Brian? How about some more ENTHUSIASM with that wave?
The further north, the wetter and greener. Traffic was horrible. Deer? Saw two the entire ride. Not bad, given the location.
Wonder what kids do for fun in Brownsville Ca?
People ask why I take pics of old barns. It's because of my bud Andrew, Orangeville FJR, who sadly took his life after finding out his wife was
screwing his best friend. Andrew liked old barns, said they were the cornerstone of our country. No barns, no survival, back in the day. I agree.
Based upon steep roof lines, we must be in snow country.
Lots of structures like this one. Perhaps a second home or cabin? Didn't look full-time lived in.
What handsome brown-eyed man!
LaPorte-Quincy road leads to... Quincy!
Still remember the sweet smell of higher attitude. Not missing the brown and hot temps of Creston...
Hey Steve, check the time stamp.... Getting a bit hungry, Just Sayin'..
Stopped for a pee break after discovering no food in LaPorte. Jim R was a gnat magnet, hilarious to watch him wave his arms and jump around..
OHV staging area, La Porte CA
With no food in LaPorte, we pressed on to Quincy. Steve knew a good sammywich shop, so off we go.
Full speed ahead! Damn the torpedos!
Actually saw a little snow!
and lucious green meadows.
It's really good to get out of San Luis Obispo county, see other sites, ride other roads.
SLO simply doesn't have streams like this..
I believe it was last year when the fire went through. Little regrowth. Stark.
I think these are simply natural pastures. Didn't see cows or other livestock. Not even a deerio.
If it wasn't for wintertime, I could and would live here.
Nestled between houses, a Catholic church. Established 1947.
Nice to see old structures taken care of, still in use.
Private parties only? Wonder how they stay in buisness?
Established 1933.
Finally, lunch at Quincy! What? No indoor pics? No menu pics? I'm sooo fired!
Ahh, found it. Morning Thunder Cafe.
Wooden RR bridge. More of them existing than one would think, given age.
Babbling brook, 25 mph left corner, burn scars. Let the healing begin.
Crescent Mills.
The population was 196 at the 2010 census, down from 258 at the 2000 census.
No need to pass when traffic equals Zero!
Storm clouds are brewing. Will the Sissies soon be Wet Sissies?
Saving historic buildings. Not much left.
As always, construction halts traffic. Here, it appears they are running underground power lines.
Normally we filter to front. But, no room at the inn this time.
Pacific Gas & Electric burned down what seems like 1/2 the state over the last 5 years.
Population 31. Think everyone knows what everyone knows?
The dam.
Steve lites the comm, "How do you feel about a few rain drops?"
"Fine" I say "As long as YOU catch them all!"
We caught a bit of moisture, err, umm, I mean survived a torrential downpour of epic proportions.
"The road goes on forever, and the Party never ends"
When in the moment, don't always see the beauty there. Then later, when home and normal routine kicks in, realize how purty it really was.
Pretty good elevation. Nice and cool.
We scooted by Lassen Park, it's closed.
As we drew nearer to Red Bluff, the bluffs, well, uhh, they turned red.
And so we arrived at Red Bluff in about 5 miles.
End Day 2
Day 2 - Hah! Found more Pics

Where we ate in Quincy.
The Sissies drinking and telling bigger and bigger lies...
Brian asks "Is my ear still here?"
